Depop made waves in July 2024 when they announced 0% marketplace fees for US and UK sellers. But "free" isn't quite free. Here's what you actually pay in 2026.
Since July 2024, US and UK sellers on Depop pay zero marketplace commission on new or updated listings. This was a major shift β Depop previously charged 10% on every sale, matching Mercari.
International sellers (outside US/UK) still pay the 10% marketplace fee.
Payment processing isn't free. US sellers pay 3.3% + $0.45 per transaction via Stripe (Depop Payments).
Example: $40 item + $7 shipping = $47 total
Processing fee: $47 Γ 0.033 + $0.45 = $2.00
Total fees: $2.00 | Payout: $45.00
Effective fee rate: ~4.3%
That's it. $2.00 in fees on a $47 sale. Compare that to Poshmark ($9.40 on the same sale) or eBay ($6.78).
If you have old listings created before July 2024 that haven't been updated, they still carry the 10% fee. You need to edit and save those listings to switch them to the 0% rate.
Go through your older listings and make any small edit (update the description, adjust a tag) to trigger the new fee structure. It's worth the five minutes.
If you use Depop's "Boost" feature to promote listings, you pay an additional fee when the item sells through the boost:
This stacks on top of the payment processing fee. A boosted $40 sale in the US would cost you 8% ($3.76) + processing ($2.00) = $5.76 total. Still cheaper than most platforms, but no longer "free."
Depop is now one of the cheapest major platforms for US sellers:
