GOAT vs StockX Fees in 2026 β€” Which Sneaker Platform Pays You More?

April 6, 2026 Β· 6 min read

If you sell sneakers, you've probably listed on both GOAT and StockX. Both authenticate every pair β€” but their fee structures are significantly different. We ran the numbers to find out which platform actually puts more money in your pocket.

StockX Fees (2026)

StockX uses a tiered seller level system called Flex. The more you sell (and the fewer cancellations), the lower your commission rate:

Level 1: 9% commission

Level 2: 8.5% commission

Level 3: 8% commission

Level 4: 7.5% commission

Level 5: 7% commission

+ 3% payment processing on all levels

+ $5 shipping (standard)

Total effective rate: 10–12% + $5 depending on your seller level.

GOAT Fees (2026)

GOAT uses a seller rating system that determines your commission rate. Unlike StockX's volume-based tiers, GOAT's rates are tied to your performance rating (shipping speed, cancellation rate, accuracy):

Rating 90–100: 9.5% commission

Rating 80–89: 15% commission

Rating 70–79: 20% commission

Rating below 70: 25% commission

+ 2.9% cash-out fee on all tiers

+ $5 flat fee per sale

Total effective rate at best: 12.4% + $5. At worst (low rating): 27.9% + $5.

Head-to-Head: Selling $200 Jordans

Let's compare both platforms on a $200 pair of Jordan 1s:

StockX β€” Level 1 Seller:

Commission (9%): $200 Γ— 0.09 = $18.00

Processing (3%): $200 Γ— 0.03 = $6.00

Shipping: $5.00

Total fees: $29.00 | Payout: $171.00

GOAT β€” Rating 90+ Seller:

Commission (9.5%): $200 Γ— 0.095 = $19.00

Cash-out fee (2.9%): $200 Γ— 0.029 = $5.80

Flat fee: $5.00

Total fees: $29.80 | Payout: $170.20

At the base level, they're nearly identical β€” less than a dollar difference on a $200 sale. The real gap appears when you factor in seller level/rating.

The Difference Maker: Volume vs Consistency

Here's where the platforms diverge:

  • StockX rewards volume. High-volume sellers (Level 5) drop to 7% commission. On that same $200 Jordan, a Level 5 seller pays $25 total β†’ payout of $175.
  • GOAT rewards consistency. Keep your rating at 90+ and you stay at 9.5%. But there's no way to go lower β€” the floor is fixed.
  • GOAT's penalty is harsher. If your rating drops below 70, you're paying 25% commission β€” that's $50 on a $200 shoe in commission alone, plus the cash-out fee and flat fee. Total: ~$60.80 in fees.

Verdict

StockX is better for high-volume sellers who can reach Level 4–5 and enjoy 7–7.5% commission rates. GOAT is competitive if you maintain a high rating, but the penalty for poor performance is severe.

Our recommendation: use both and compare per item. Check the current lowest ask on each platform β€” sometimes the price difference between platforms matters more than the fee difference.
