How to Use FeePilot to Maximize Profit

April 2026 Β· 5 min read

FeePilot calculates seller fees across 16+ marketplaces instantly. Enter your item price, shipping cost, and what you paid β€” see your actual take-home on every platform side by side. Here's how to get the most out of it.

Step 1: Enter Your Numbers

The calculator needs three inputs: sale price (what you're listing the item for), shipping cost (what the label costs you), and item cost / COGS (what you paid for the item).

Item cost is optional but important. Without it, FeePilot shows your payout(sale price minus fees). With it, you see your true profit β€” the money that actually stays in your pocket. For a deeper look at fee types, read Marketplace Fees 101.

Step 2: Read the Results

The main profit card shows your take-home after ALL fees. Below it, the fee breakdown itemizes each fee line so you know exactly where your money goes. The margin percentage tells you how healthy the sale is:

  • Green (30%+): Healthy margin β€” great sale.
  • Yellow (15–30%): Thin margin β€” workable but watch your costs.
  • Red (<15%): Low or negative β€” reconsider the price or platform.

Step 3: Compare Platforms

The comparison table ranks every platform by payout. But don't just look at the top β€” consider where your item is most likely to sell, not just where fees are lowest. A platform with 5% higher fees but 10x the audience might be the better choice.

See the full breakdown on the side-by-side fee comparison page.

Step 4: Use Pro Tools

The reverse calculator (Pro) lets you enter your target take-home and it tells you what price to list at on each platform. For example:

"I want $50 in my pocket" β†’ FeePilot says list at $62.50 on eBay, $55.55 on Mercari, $62.50 on Poshmark.

No more guessing. Set your profit goal and let FeePilot do the math.

Step 5: Share or Export

Shareable links let you save a calculation and come back to it β€” or send it to a sourcing partner. CSV export lets you download the comparison table for bookkeeping or inventory tracking.

Pro Tips

  • Bundle the calculator into your listing workflow β€” before you list ANYTHING, run the numbers.
  • Check 2–3 platforms minimum for every item.
  • Factor in shipping even if it's "free" β€” you're eating the cost.
  • Revisit your calculations when platforms change fees. Sign up for our email alerts to stay informed.
