Poshmark Seller Guide

April 2026 Β· 7 min read

Why Poshmark?

Social selling platform with a loyal buyer base. The 20% commission is high but includes shipping label + payment processing β€” no hidden extras.

  • Best for: Women's clothing, shoes, accessories, men's fashion, home decor
  • Strong community: Sharing and engagement drive sales
  • Not ideal for: Electronics, non-fashion items, low-value items (the flat $2.95 fee on sub-$15 sales is brutal)

Getting Started

Download the app, create your closet, upload a profile photo and cover photo. Your closet IS your brand. Write a "Meet Your Posher" listing β€” introduce yourself and mention what you sell.

The Sharing Game

Poshmark's algorithm rewards activity. This is the single most important thing you can do on Poshmark:

  • Share your own listings multiple times/day (peak hours: 7–9am, 12–1pm, 7–10pm)
  • Share other sellers' listings β€” they'll share yours back (community sharing)
  • Follow potential buyers in your niche
  • Posh Parties are themed events where sharing to the party feed gets extra visibility

Photography on Poshmark

Flat lays work well (item laid out on a clean surface). Use natural lighting. Show front, back, tag, and any flaws. Cover photos should be clean and styled β€” no messy backgrounds. Lifestyle photos (modeled or styled) get more engagement.

Pricing for the 20% Cut

Poshmark's commission is the highest of the major platforms. On a $30 sale, Poshmark takes $6. On a $14 sale, they take a flat $2.95 (essentially 21%).

Price higher than other platforms to account for this. Poshmark buyers expect to negotiate β€” price 20–30% above your floor so you have room for offers.

Run your numbers through FeePilot and check our pricing strategy guide.

Offers and Bundles

Offer to Likers lets you send a private discount to everyone who liked your listing. This is one of Poshmark's most powerful selling tools.

Bundles: Buyers add multiple items, you offer a discount. You pay ONE shipping label for the bundle β€” massive savings. Always offer a bundle discount (10–20% off 2+ items).

Closet Clear Out

Poshmark periodically runs Closet Clear Out (CCO) events. During CCO, if you drop your price by 10%+ AND offer a shipping discount, Poshmark notifies all likers. This is when most sales happen on Poshmark. Plan your pricing around CCO events.

Shipping on Poshmark

  • Standard USPS Priority label: $7.97 (buyer pays), up to 5 lbs
  • You can offer discounted shipping ($3.99–$5.99) β€” the difference comes out of your payout
  • Overweight packages (>5 lbs): you pay the overage, and it's expensive. Weigh before shipping.
  • Bundle multiple items under one label (up to 5 lbs total)

Growing Your Closet

Consistency wins:

  • List 3–5 new items per week
  • Share your closet 2–3x daily
  • Engage with community (share, follow, comment)
  • Relist stale items every 60 days (refreshes search position)
  • Cross-list to Mercari/eBay for items that aren't selling

Common Poshmark Mistakes

  • Not sharing enough β€” this is the #1 thing that drives sales
  • Pricing too low β€” leaves no room for offers
  • Not using Offer to Likers
  • Not bundling
  • Ignoring Closet Clear Out events
  • Listing non-fashion items β€” they don't sell well on Poshmark
